Sometimes I see just gradual changes in my boys. Those are nice because I feel like I can appreciate the little achievements.
There are other times when over the course of a week or two they seem to transform into a whole new kid--in every way.
Josh Oliver seems to have had a sudden transformation. It makes me sad because there are just too many changes for me to handle at one time.
He is suddenly putting together pretty darn good train tracks and he is building block towers that would give Luke and Henry's a run for their money. He doesn't even really care if they play downstairs with him. He drags everything out himself and goes to town building his little train towns. He has also been lining up his hotwheels and setting out the army men for wars. There have been several times I have walked by him and sworn it was Henry playing.
Josh has also started talking so much better lately. One day I was telling Ben how adorable I thought his broken up sentences were, and then within a day or two I noticed that he no longer paused in the middle. Then this weekend I was talking to him on the phone and I thought he was Henry. I just couldn't believe it was my Joshers who was talking so clearly to me.
He has also suddenly become so grateful for everything. He tells me "Thank you" for everything from finding a toy for him to putting on his shoes. A few nights ago I laid in bed with him and I got a thank you for smooches, a back rub, cheekies, and just for laying with him. It is really a nice trait. I love it!
He has also been saying a lot of adult sort of things. Today he told me, ever so politely, "It's time to go." while I was shopping. Also today, when he was trying to float on his back, he told me that it was too deep. Some of the things that he says just cracks me up. He just sounds so old.
Although it is hard for me to deal with Josh making it so obvious that he is getting older, I do enjoy seeing what sort of boy he is becoming. I love him more and more each day!
